The Game
A points game. After an initial ante each player is given one card face down, and one card face up. The value of the cards is one or eleven for Aces (player’s choice), face cards are 1/2, and face value for all other cards.
The Play
Deal and bet proceed as 5-Card stud: one down, four up. Cards that match “zero-out”: the value of all matching cards in the player’s hand is reduced to 0. The high score hand holds the bet each round (aces are eleven for determining betting order). After the 5
th card is dealt, bet again, then there are two rounds of shucks, allowing players to replace one card (up or down) for the cost of an ante if they choose. Bet after each round.
Ending the Game
After the final betting round, the hands closest to 0 and 45 points split the pot.
What Wins
Though perfect lows are unusual, 35-45 are not as uncommon for the high hand. Good lows are below 4 points.
